A Meaning of Life LLC (AMOL) is a Texas-based organization committed to enhancing the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) through comprehensive, person-centered services. We focus on promoting independence, dignity, and community inclusion by offering Home & Community Based Services tailored to individual needs.

Home & Community Based Services

We provide Home & Community Based Services (HCS) that empower individuals with IDD to thrive in traditional, home-like environments. These residences focus on person-centered case management, supporting personal care, independent living skills, health maintenance, and community engagement. This approach enables clients to develop and retain essential life skills within a nurturing setting, aligning with the principles of the Texas Home Living Program.

We also provide the Texas Home Living Program (TxHmL) as part of our Home & Community Based Services, which support families with members who have intellectual developmental disabilities. Our Mission

A Meaning of Life LLC was founded on the belief that every individual, regardless of ability, deserves the opportunity to live a meaningful, inclusive life within their own community. Our community-based program utilizes Home & Community Based Services in direct response to the growing concern that individuals with special needs, particularly those with developmental, intellectual, or neurological disabilities, face significant barriers to accessing adequate community supports. These barriers often lead to unnecessary institutionalization, which not only diminishes quality of life but also places long-term financial strain on public systems. By providing person-centered case management and connecting individuals to resources like the Texas Home Living Program, we aim to empower those we serve and enhance their community integration.

What services do you provide?

A Meaning of Life provides person-centered case-management for individuals and their families with IDD, based on their Medicaid eligibility, to connect and assist them with resources that meets their needs. Services include residential support (group home), host home, dental, behavioral therapy, nursing, speech therapy, minor home modifications, adaptive aids, etc.

Is my loved one qualified for the services AMOL are providing?

An offer of the HCS program depends on individual need, one’s date of placement on the interest list and the availability of funding for the program. Contact your local intellectual and developmental disability authority (LIDDA) that serves the county in which you live in, to be placed on the interest list. Once HHSC approves an offer for HCS, the LIDDA serving a local service area will assist with the application process, as well as coordinate the enrollment and ongoing services.

What cities and counties do you serve?

Our company is based in Burleson, TX (Johnson County) but we serve several counties around the DFW Metroplex which includes: Tarrant county, Johnson county, Dallas county, Denton county, Hood county, and Parker county.

How do I transfer so my provider is A Meaning of Life?

If you are already in the Home and Community-Based (HCS) service or Texas Home Living (TxHmL) programs, contact your local intellectual and developmental disability authority (LIDDA) to request to transfer to A Meaning of Life. There will be several steps but LIDDA will assist you through all of it.

How do I report suspected abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation?

If you see or suspect any abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation towards yourself or someone you love, immediately report it (within 1 hour) to Cii Complaints at 1-800-458-9858 (if it is an HCS/TxHmL provider Individual Skills and Socialization DAHS program). If it is not an Individual Skills and Socialization DAHS program then all reports of any incident/suspicion of abuse, neglect, or exploitation must be to the DFPS Abuse Hotline at 1-800-647-7418.

How do I file a concern or complaint?

If our company is unable to provide a satisfactory resolution, the family has the discretion to contact the Texas Health and Human Services Commission Office of Consumer Rights and Services by telephone or in writing at: Texas Health and Human Services Commission (THHSC) 701 West 51st Street, Austin, TX 78714 or by calling the office of IDD Ombudsman at 1 (800) 252-8154
